Neme gave me quite the scare tonight. He's usually waiting for me when I get home, but he wasn't there tonight. I've been calling and calling and calling him, with no response. Understandably, I've been worried sick because it's Halloween, and he's a little black cat.

But he's home and safe! Three hours later than usual, but safe and sound and hungry. He's also in the house, and I hope to keep him in for the rest of the night, although I think any danger to him has passed by now, and he usually doesn't want to stay in, especially when it's warm like it is tonight. But he's safe, and that's the important thing.

So now I can relax and enjoy all my Halloween movies. Just watched The Uninvited and now I'm watching Them! Love these old movies. :-D

You know, I had absolutely no idea that Halloween was so dangerous for black cats until I read Wil Wheaton's post the other day. He also has a black cat that stays inside around Halloween. People are just awful.

But hooray for Neme being safe, and for a night to watch old movies.

People are sick bastards. We've had someone(s) going around in a couple neighboring counties in WV & Ohio taking dogs out of their own yards and murdering them. I sincerely want those fuckers to fall into flaming vats and die.

I made the mistake of letting Anno out earlier as he is an all-black cat as well. I'd actually forgotten it was Halloween tonight! He's home safe now - thankfully - so I can stop worrying :)

It's a terrible thing that black cats are always targets to ignorant people, but it's even worse on Halloween because people suck. I'm glad your Anno is safely home, too.

And I'm glad to hear Neme is home safe too :D

Glad nothing bad befell Neme.

Them! I loved that movie when I was a kid. We used to go around quoting "it was.....them!"

I love cheesy 1950s sci fi. I'm thinking of watching The Beginning of the End after this one. It stars James Arness' brother, Peter Graves. Or I could watch The Thing from Another World and have a double dose of Arness. :-)

I saw "Invaders from Mars" when I was around 7 and it terrified me. I'll never forget it.

That's another one I love. I may have that one in my video library, too. I bought a whole bunch of my favorite movies from the 1950s. They're very cheap (usually) on Amazon. :-)

Oh man! A little black cat on Halloween, no wonder you were scared for him. Glad he's safe and sound.

Yeah, the little shit had me worried when he didn't show up. I think he did that to me last Halloween, too.

Petzi Sis has a copy of Them as well.

And yeah, black cats on Halloween can equal trouble.

It sounds like Petzi Sis & I could be movie watching buddies. :-)

I wasn't aware of any hazard to black cats on Halloween. That is sick. I'm glad that Neme is ok. Did he say indoors last night?

Unfortunately, black cats are more of a target at any time of year, but at Halloween, their danger becomes even higher because sick assholes think it's fun to torture animals, and Halloween gives them a sick excuse to go after black cats because of the stupid 'witches' familiar' association.

He didn't stay inside because the other two cats get into hissy fits around him, and it makes him nervous. But it was pretty late when I let him out, and I don't think anyone could have seen him anyway. He was there and eager for his breakfast this morning. :-)
